Happy Steps Association (MAD) Signs Memorandum of Understanding with the Stabilization Support Unit to Establish a Prosthetics Center in Northwest Syria
In a new step towards supporting the most vulnerable groups and meeting their urgent needs, the Happy Steps Association for People with Special Needs (MAD) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Stabilization Support Unit to establish a center for manufacturing prosthetic limbs in Northwest Syria.
This humanitarian project aims to provide support to individuals who have lost their limbs due to the tragic events and conflicts in Syria, which have resulted in a large number of mobility disabilities. The center aspires to enable these individuals to regain and improve their mobility independence, positively impacting various aspects of their lives, thereby contributing to an enhanced quality of life and reintegration into society.
This initiative represents a response to the significant challenges facing prosthetics production amid the deteriorating global economic conditions, especially in Syria. The Happy Steps Association highlighted that the high cost of prosthetics remains the biggest challenge for local organizations working to provide these services free of charge.
The project aims to deliver high-quality services, relying on support from international and local donors to ensure that prosthetic limbs are provided completely free of charge to beneficiaries, as well as to associations or centers offering prosthetic services at the lowest possible cost. This center is part of early recovery projects that aim to rebuild and uplift Syrian society.
In this context, the Happy Steps Association reaffirmed its strong commitment to serving the most vulnerable groups by providing innovative and sustainable solutions. It described this initiative as a vital step towards achieving its humanitarian vision, which focuses on restoring hope and dignity to those affected.
The center is expected to make a significant difference in the lives of thousands of beneficiaries by offering prosthetic limbs that help them overcome the challenges of disability. Additionally, it will provide rehabilitation services and psychosocial support to enhance their full integration into society.
The association concluded by emphasizing the importance of the international community and donors in supporting such humanitarian initiatives. It pointed out that securing the necessary resources and ensuring the continuity of these services is the cornerstone for maximizing their positive impact on beneficiaries’ lives and building a better future for them.
